Invest Your Body- Be a Billboard
We live in a TLDR world. Feel free to purchase some Air Health Our Health merch here so you can start conversations on the importance of clean air with family and friends! You never know – you might spark the curiosity of the person behind you at the grocery store looking at your totebag who will come to the website, learn, and start advocating for clean air! Maybe the smoker wheezing behind you on that run considers NOT lighting that cigarette on fire after reading your shirt? Maybe they’ll come to the site and find the help they need to quit smoking! Coffee in the breakroom (when we have breakrooms again) will taste better if you’re also spreading the word about the toxic effects of diesel exhaust with an informative mug. And you will be donating to a variety of organizations working to help clean up the air!
Spread the word that it is not healthy air OR wealth, it is healthy air AND wealth. We have left far too many communities behind with the inequities of unhealthy air. Healthy economies are made up of healthy people, and people need clean air to be healthy. It really is that simple, but there are a lot of interests (ahem, tobacco, various industries) who profit at the expense of the health of others. Help those behind you in line understand the simple formula that leads to health and wealth for all!
A focus on teargas
As I’ve mentioned previously, I did not anticipate needing to write about teargas on an air quality podcast. However, I am very alarmed about the potential for short and long term health effects. I worked with a great friend from medical school, the excellent Dr. Stephen Gaeta MD/PhD, who provided the graphics summarizing the teargas data on this shirt.
